#02 Tommaso Agostinelli for FLAT shop Spotify Playlist

Matelica, 2011, during my fifteenth year, which pushed me toward lands that seemed distant back then (20 km from Fabriano). Since that time, the feeling I get when entering the shop has remained essentially the same, even though everything has changed in space, in the shifting tides of fashion and events.

It is in the layout, the selections, and the associations that this mysterious boutique freshness lies, wrapping those garments in an obscure singularity, as if in a hyperuranion from which I feel sidereally distant yet potentially close: wearing them becomes an experience strangely outside of the ordinary, yet at the same time ready to order itself, to fit organically and somewhat strategically into everyday life.

Music is an integral part of this process, necessary but not sufficient; it acts as a backdrop and illuminates the shelves and what lies upon them, contributing definitively to the context.

The idea behind this playlist is the same, but in reverse: an interchange of elements where the music becomes the subject, and the shop and its atmosphere the background.

The arrangement plays a key role, as I have tried to range between very different genres while keeping the tracks cohesive through harmonic and rhythmic connections, attempting to interpret the endings of the pieces as intros for those that immediately follow. The heterogeneity of the styles is mitigated by these devices and by the homogeneity of purpose—namely, the correspondence of the songs to that vaguely abstract and quintessentially cool atmosphere that the shop possesses.
